Gorlock the destroyer

Gorlock the destroyer : Gorlock the Destroyer is a nickname given to influencer Ali C. Lopez during her appearance on an episode of the Whatever Podcast. This moniker was assigned in a derogatory manner, reflecting negatively on her appearance as a fat trans woman, particularly in contrast to three thin, conventionally attractive women who were also on the show.

After her appearance on the podcast, Lopez encountered a wave of harassment and online bullying related to her size, gender, and overall appearance. Despite this, she has remained resilient in the face of hate and continues to thrive on her social media platforms.

Lopez is a social media influencer in her mid-twenties from Arizona, active on TikTok and Instagram. Her TikTok account, @al.weeezy, boasts over 450,000 followers as of June 21, 2024. She mainly shares POV and lip-sync videos, along with short clips celebrating her beauty and confidence.

She is a transgender woman who proudly identifies as fat and is best known for her unapologetic confidence. In a memorable episode of the Whatever Podcast, where she earned her nickname, she boldly referred to herself as a “bad b—h,” a “baddie,” and a “fat f—ing 10” when the hosts asked her to rate herself on a scale of 1 to 10.

The name “Gorlock the Destroyer” was coined by Twitter user @RichardRatBoy1 on April 26, 2023, just a day after the podcast episode was released. In the tweet, he humorously misnamed each guest, calling others “Ashley” and “Rachel,” while labeling Lopez with the memorable title that sparked the meme.

The “Gorlock the Destroyer” meme quickly gained traction

with the original tweet amassing over 14.6 million views and being shared more than 12,000 times. On the same day, user @TheOnlyDSC uploaded a video clip from the podcast episode, humorously edited to overlay the voice of Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars over Lopez. This joke cruelly compared her to the infamous character, a large slug alien, mocking her size.

From there, jokes about “Gorlock the Destroyer” proliferated on Twitter, then spread to TikTok, and eventually made their way to Reddit forums dedicated to what users deemed “cringe.” Most of the memes featured fatphobic remarks targeting her weight.

Ali Weezy’s high school photo

Typically, we respect the privacy of trans individuals and avoid sharing pre-transition information and photos, as most prefer to keep such details out of the public eye. However, Lopez responded to the leak of her pre-transition high school photo with a bold “who cares” attitude in a TikTok video on November 11, 2023

“So, I guess this just got leaked,” she said in the green screen video featuring her high school photo. “I have one question: Am I supposed to be embarrassed?”

“I was sexy as f— back then, and I’m still sexy as f— now. So, what’s the problem?”

Ali Weezy’s response to the Gorlock the Destroyer meme

Lopez initially struggled with the “Gorlock the Destroyer” nickname, as it was clearly intended to insult her appearance. However, she eventually brushed it off and even considered embracing the title at one point.

“There are days when it still bothers me to be called that… There was even a time when I thought, ‘Should I just embrace [Gorlock the Destroyer] at this point?’ I really don’t care,” she said.

She also voiced her confusion about how the meme evolved during an episode of the “One Night with Steiny” podcast, mentioning how people began referring to her as Optimus Prime.

Fox News Interview and Controversy

In January 2024, Lopez participated in an interview with Fox News Digital, where her comments about masculinity resonated with the outlet’s audience, showcasing a different perspective on a trans woman.

“I feel like a lot of [men] need to start being [men],” she remarked. “In today’s world, men often expect princess treatment.”

Lopez expressed frustration at the expectations placed on women in relationships, saying, “I see a lot of men expecting women to go above and beyond while doing very little themselves. Even with some of my friends, I ask, ‘Why are you covering this?’ At the very least, it should be 50/50 when it comes to paying.”

Although Fox News edited her comments significantly, they still reflected common right-wing views on gender roles, highlighting the diversity of political beliefs and opinions among trans women.

She also commented on societal sensitivity, stating, “I feel like we live in a very sensitive society right now, where it’s almost like, ‘No babe, chill out.’ As long as people aren’t being a–holes to you, it shouldn’t be an issue.”
